The President has reportedly agreed to grant the Ministerial and State Ministerial portfolios of two ministries to the United National Front (UNF).
President Sirisena had reportedly told the Prime Minister during a meeting yesterday (Jun 4), that the ministerial portfolio for the Mass Media Ministry and the position of Law and Order State Minister will be granted to the UNF.
Mr. Sirisena had told Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe that he had no objection towards granting these portfolios to UNF parliamentarians.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
