The United National Party is attempting to create a rift between the President and parliamentarian Sarath Fonseka based on the law and order ministerial portfolio, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) said yesterday (May 07).
The UNP did not handover this ministerial portfolio to parliamentarian Fonseka despite a UNP member being in charge of this ministry over the last four years, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara told a news conference.
He claimed that although the President has been in charge of the Law and Order apparatus only for the last four months, he has been able to accomplish what the UNP failed to do over the last four years.
