The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has won in the Hambantota District and managed to secure 4 seats, according to the final district results released a short while ago. The UPFA has received 196,980 votes (53.84%) while the UNP with 130,433 votes (35.65%) and secured 2 seats in the district. The JVP has polled 36,527 votes and secured one seat in the district. A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
