The United States (US) Embassy in Colombo has rejected a visa application from former army commander Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka, a spokesperson from his party said.
He said the reason for turning down the visa could be on the grounds of war crimes charges currently the government facing. The Field Marshal was the army commander during the final phases of the war where the alleged war crimes and human rights violations were said to have been committed.
