Uva Governor Marshal Perera has handed over his resignation to President Maithripala Sirisena today (Aug 01), sources at the presidential secretariat told Times Online.
According to sources, the President had requested the governor to step down from his position yesterday.
The term of the Uva Provincial Council is set to expire on September 08.
