Chief Prelate Ven Thibbatuwave Sri Sumangala Thero has urged that a national policy framework must be established in order to strengthen national security.
According to the Chief Prelate of the Malwatta Chapter, all banks, banking systems, and courts which are centered around religious principles must be abolished in a bid to strengthen security.
Further, educational institutions which tutor students of only one community must be replaced by common educational bodies which teach unsecular subjects, the Ven. Thero noted adding that higher educational institutes which provoke religious divisions must also be banned.
He insisted that steps must be taken to immediately ban garments such as the Burqa and the Niqab which pose a threat to national security. Foreign nationals who are a threat to the country's security should also be deported to their native countries, the Malwatta Chapter's Chief Prelate said.
While opining that the country must not be divided by ethnic boundaries, he added that the method of certifying food by leving a fee on the basis of religious principles must also be stopped.
Another opinion to strengthen national security, the Ven. Thero said was to vest more powers with the State Intelligency Service and strengthen the same.
