Veteran film Director and actor Roy de Silva, known for his comedy films, has passed away at the age of 80, local media reported. Roy de Silva passed away upon being admitted to hospital last night after suffering a sudden illness.
Mr.de Silva entered the film industry as an actor in 1964 with ‘Sujage Rahasa’. He arose as an actor and changed the pathway towards cinema direction becoming one of the most successful film makers in the Sri Lanka film industry.
His movies such as Re Daniel Dawal Migel, Cheriyo, Clean Out, and Sir Last Chance were major hits. As of 2016 Roy de Silva has directed 33 films.
