The National Water Supply & Drainage Board (NWSDB) has appealed to consumers not to waste water due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.
Issuing a statement, the Water Board notes that water usage has increased considerably in recent days as most of the population stays home due to the State imposed curfew aimed at minimising the spread of COVID-19.
The prevailing dry weather conditions has resulted in the level of water in many water resources dropping significantly. Nevertheless, the NWSDB has made arrangements to ensure that water is not curtailed to consumers on any account, it added.
The Board notes that it has observed that the tap is kept unnecessarily running even during the broadcast of public service announcements calling on people to practice good hygiene to safeguard themselves from the virus. As the New Year is also approaching, people are also using water for activities such as cleaning and watering plants. As such, it appeals to consumers to use water as sparingly as possible during these difficult times.
The NWSDB also states that consumers can send their water bill number via an SMS to 071-9399999 to obtain the latest details on their water bill, sudden breakdowns and all other related information.
