Weerawansa transferred to National Hospital

Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, who is currently engaged in a fast while in remand custody, was transferred from the Prisons Hospitals to Colombo National Hospital a short while ago. 

Mr. Weerawansa, who is also the leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna (JNP), is in remand custody for alleged misuse of Government vehicles. 

The hunger strike begun by the MP is currently in its seventh day. 

A bail application filed on behalf of Mr. Weerawansa is due to be taken up by the Fort Magistrate on April 3.
