A resident of Weligama, Matara heading to Singapore with foreign currency amounting USD 33100/-(LKR 6,090,400/-) by the Customs staff attached to the BIA today morning, an official said.
The Detection was amde by Mr. Wasantha Kamaradiwela, M.D. Prasantha Kumara, H.M.Priyantha Kumara,M.Lalantha Peiris, W.P. Gayani Wijesuriya, D.O.H. Katuwawala, Assistant Superintendents of Customs.
After investigation the suspect was warned and released while the currency was forfeited.
The investigations were carried out by Mr. A.A.D.C.Shanthpriya, E.Sivagnanam, G.M.Ratnayake, Luxman Malvita Mr. P.V Dharmapriyantha, Superintendents of Customs and team under supervision of, Mr. S.P Arukgoda, Mr. D.P.M Goonewardena Deputy Directors of Customs as per the directives of Mrs. R. B. Gankewala Director of Customs.
