Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa's wife Shashi Weerawansa was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) yesterday evening for allegedly possessing a fake diplomatic passport, police said. The CID is to charge her for possessing fake documents by submitting two different National Identity Card numbers, birth dates and for her disclosures at the Immigration and Emigration Department to obtain a passport. Following the arrest of his wife minister Weerawansa is to be questioned by the CID this morning.
