A 32 year old individual drowned in upper Kotmale reservior yesterday while he tried to rescue a girl who jumpted to commit suicide yesterday , police said.
The victim was identified as 32 year old Abdeen Riswan, a father of two children from Thalawakkale. Locals said the victim who was passing by on the road, saw the struggling girl in water and jumped into the reservoir to save the girl.
The 22 year old girl was saved by both police and locals while Riswan disappeared in water. Later police rescuers recovered the body. The girl has been hospitalized fr=or treatment. Police are conducting further investigations.(G.Kishanthan)
