A 22 year old youth was injured badly in Point pedro, Jaffna early hours of today when Army personnel opened fire at his motorbike for failing to stop during curfew period, police said.
Military sources in Jaffna said that this open firing came in the wake of one of the Army personnel deployed in Puloy, in Jaffna was assaulted by unknown persons earlier and the Army was looking for the attackers.
The preliminary investigations by police revealed that the Army personnel opened fire when they indicated to stop the speeding motorbike at 1.00 am when the curfew was effective in Jaffna.
