The Ministry of Defence, Public Security, Law & Order has appointed Major General (Retired) Ruwan Wanigasooriya as the Chief of National Intelligence, effective January 1.
He formally assumed duties at the Defence Ministry in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte after receiving his letter of appointment from Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal (Retired) Sampath Thuyacontha.
The position became vacant following the retirement of Major General Ruwan Kulatunga, the previous Chief of National Intelligence.
