Sri Lanka to Enhance Wildlife Bungalows with Private Sector Contributions
In a significant move to bolster wildlife conservation efforts, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to develop the infrastructure of the 52 wildlife bungalows managed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation (DWC). Recognizing the need for physical improvements, the initiative will invite voluntary contributions from private sector organizations and interested parties.
The proposal, presented by the Minister of Wildlife, aims to enhance the facilities while ensuring that all activities comply with the Wildlife and Flora Ordinance. This collaborative approach seeks to leverage private sector resources without compromising conservation standards.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Department of Wildlife Conservation and the selected contributors to formalize the terms of cooperation. This development is expected to significantly improve the quality and sustainability of wildlife bungalows, benefiting both conservation efforts and eco-tourism.
