The number of complaints received against Kurunegala Teaching Hospital doctor Mohamed Shafi over allegations of sterlising mothers during C-Section procedures has increased upto 1003.
Dr. Shafi was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department over charges of unlawfully acquiring assets.
However, after allegations against the doctor on sterlising women surfaced, mothers were given the opportunity to file complaints against him.
Complaints are being recorded at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and the Dambulla General Hospital since June 25.
Of the total complaints, 839 have been received by the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital while 164 complaints have been filed at the Dambulla General Hospital.
