Following are scenes witnessed today at the Homagama Magistrate's Court, where Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was sentenced to one year Rigorous Imprisonment to be ended in six months.
Ven. Gnanasara Thera was sentenced after being found guilty of threatening Sandya Ekneligoda, wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda within the premises of the Homagama Magistrate's Court in 2016.
A large number of monks and supporters of Ven. Gnanasara Thera, as well as many members of the media, were present at the courts today to hear the sentence. A heavy police presence was also visible.
After being sentenced, Gnanasara Thera was put on a prison bus, before being driven away to prison
