The Lanka Premier League 2024 wishes to announce that 420 players, both Sri Lankan and overseas, will go under the hammer during the much-awaited ‘Player Auction,’ which will take place on Tuesday, May 21st, in Colombo.
Out of the 420 players, 154 are Sri Lankans, while the remaining players are overseas.
Auction Rounds
The auction, which will start at 12 p.m., will have 18 initial rounds, focusing on multiple talent options, such as batters, all-rounders, fast and spin bowlers, and wicketkeepers, with different segments for each criterion, such as capped batters, uncapped batters, etc.
Following the 18 rounds, the auction will move into the acceleration round(s).
Auction Purse
In total, the auction will have a collective purse of US$2.5 million from all five franchise teams, while each franchise will bring in a sum of US$500,000.
The teams will have to ensure that they invest a minimum of 85 percent of the purse they bring into the auction to form their respective squads.
Auctioneer
Charu Sharma, who was the auctioneer of the inaugural LPL player auction held last year, will be the auctioneer of this edition as well.
The auction will be held at the Hilton Colombo.
