Tristan Stubbs hit a magnificent century as South Africa A responded strongly to Sri Lanka A’s first innings score of 290 at stumps on day two of the second unofficial test at P Sara Oval.
At stumps South Africa A were 287 for the loss of six wickets, trailed by just three runs largely thanks to Stubbs superb 117. His innings came off 181 deliveries and included 15 boundaries and a six. Keegan Petersen made 50 while Zubayr Hamza contributed 46 to the score.
Left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando and spinner Lakshitha Manasinghe picked up three wickets each. This is the last match of their tour of Sri Lanka.
In the one-day series, the Proteas emerged champions beating the hosts by 2-1.
Sri Lanka A won the first test by 160 runs and need to win or draw the match to clinch the series.
