Sri Lanka’s - Nimali Perera - will function as the fourth umpire at the Sunday’s final of the Women’s World T20 between defending champions Australia and hosts South Africa, at Newlands grounds, South Africa.
Perera, having functioned as an on-field umpire in the semi, will officiate her second straight knock-out game, which decides the title.
Perera has been teamed up with Kim Cotton, who will oversee her second successive final as one of two on-field umpires.
New Zealander Cotton will be joined by Jacqueline Williams, with both fresh from standing in this week’s thrilling semi-finals.
Cotton umpired in Australia’s five-run victory over India, with Williams taking charge of South Africa’s six-run win against England which took the Proteas into their first ever World Cup final.
The pair will be supported by TV Umpire Suzanne Redfern, who carried out the same role in the first semi-final
GS Lakshmi is in place as the match referee for the final, which begins at 3pm local time, 6.30 pm Sri Lankan Time.
Only this month, Timesonline reported, Perera, 32, made history along with her fellow Lankan lady umpire Michelle Pereira, in becoming the first-ever two Lankan lady umpires to officiate at a major ICC tournament. [Find out more]
