Sri Lanka's Anil Prasanna Jayalath shattering his own Asian record to win the men's 200m T42 gold medal on the opening day of the inaugural IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championship held in Dubai on Tuesday (8).
Prasanna (30) came out with a strong performance to finish in 25.11 seconds, bettering his own previous Asian timing of 25.81 seconds set in Qatar during the IPC World Championships last year.
Sri Lanka is represented by seven athletes at the IPC Athletics Asia-Oceania Championship, held till March 12.
More than 250 athletes representing China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, UAE, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, Kuwait, Fiji and India are taking part.
