The Lanka SportsReisen (LSR) revealed that its main sporting event of the year, the Colombo Marathon will take place on October 2.
The internationally-recognised running event, which is held on a selected route from Colombo to Negombo, attracts closer to 10,000 long distance runners from all parts of the world.
The annual event was inaugurated in 1998 and has been an annual running event recognised the world long distance running governing body.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
