Sri Lanka has chosen 12 athletes to take part in the Asian Grand Prix 2017 to be held in China and Taipei. The selections have been made by the Asian Athletics Association (AAA).
The first and second stages will be in Jiaxing, China on April 24 and 27.
The third stage will be on April 30 in Taipei City, Taipei.
The Asian Grand Prix has been held from 2002.
It has been held in Sri Lanka in 2003, 2004 and 2013 at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Manjula Kumara Wijesekera has been named as the skipper of the Sri Lanka team with Badra Gunewardena as the Manager.
The Sri Lanka Athletics teams:
Men: Himasha Eshnan (100M), M.G. Ajith Premakumar (400M), Indunil Herath (800M), Manjula Kumara Wijesekera (High Jump), I.D.S.S. Jayasinghe (Triple Jump), Sumeda Ranasinghe (Javelin), Waruna Lakshan Dayaratne (Javelin).
Women: Rumeshika Ratnayake (100M), Nimali Liyanarachchi (400M and 800M),Gayanthika Abeyratne (800M), Tharanga Vinodhini (High Jump), D.T.K. Fernando (Shot-Putt).
