Walala A. Ratnayake National School emerged champions in both girls and boys categories at the Zonal Athletic Championship Provincial Sports Meet held at Bogambara Stadium in Kandy. The Walala Ratnayake NS boys team won the zonal championship for the 23rd time while their girls won it for the 17th occasion. At the five-day event held from July 6 to 10, 23 new meet records were established with the participation of over 2000 young athletes from 15 zonal schools.
