Sandaruwan Thilakasiri and Venuki Fernando won the Under (U)-13 Boys and Girls events respectively, while Vishan Fernando and Ishara Fernando clinched the U-15 Boys and Girls crowns respectively, in the 7th Open Junior Badminton Tournament concluded at the Moratuwa YMCA Sports Complex recently.
Over a 100 up-and-coming youngsters participated in this tournament organised and conducted by the Moratuwa YMCA.
The high standard of Badminton exhibited by these youngsters foretells a bright future for them, and needs a close watch by the game's controlling authorities.
Former National player and former President of the Western Province Badminton Association, L.R. Ariyananda, presented the awards, certificates, medals, gifts and mementos for the winners and runners-up Chief Guest.

Under-13 Girls:
Winner: Venuki Fernando; Runner-up: Niroshini Peiris
