The 52nd Senior Nationals Basketball Tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Basketball Federation will kick off on December 17 with its Level 1 matches going on until December 28.
These matches will be played at the Army Indoor court and the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
The tournament will be played across three levels and will feature teams representing all 25 districts, as well as the army, air force, police, navy, schools and universities.
The level two matches will be held in Batticaloa and level three matches will in Galle and Matara, in January 2019.
Forty-five men’s and women’s teams across all three levels will battle it out for their respective trophies.
The ten men’s teams challenging the level one trophy are Sri Lanka Air Force, Colombo District BA, Hambanthota District BA, Mercantile Services BA, Gampaha District BA, Sri Lanka Schools, Sri Lanka Army, Puttalam District BA, Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Navy.
Additionally eight women’s teams will compete in this phase of the tournament.
The Level 2 men’s teams are SL Universities SA, Kandy District BA, Jaffna District BA, Kurunegala District BA, Batticaloa District BA, Anuradhapura District BA, and Galle District BA.
Mullaitivu District BA, Kalutara District BA, Badulla District BA, Vavuniya District BA, Matara District BA, Nationalize, Kegalle District BA, Polonnaruwa District BA, Matale District BA, Kilinochchi District BA, Trincomalee District BA, Ratnapura District BA and Mannar District BA.
CWT Globelink Colombo (Pvt) Ltd will sponsor the Colombo phase of the tournament.
