Sri Lanka beat Nepal 75-49 to win the inaugural South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Women's Championship held at the National Sports Council Indoor Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal on Sunday (3).
Sri Lanka led from the beginning despite Nepal fighting well from the start but a dramatic performance in the final quarter, where the eventual winners claimed by 23-9, took them to an easy win at the end.
Sri Lanka won the first quarter 15-11, second quarter 20-13 and the third narrowly by 17-16.
Sri Lanka's Erandi Gallage top scored with 15 points while Alisha Malla, Sneha Shrestha and Bhawana Lama scored nine points each for Nepal.
The win puts Sri Lanka on top of in rankings.
They obtained eight points from four matches while Nepal finishes at second with seven points.
Maldives finished third with six points while Bhutan and Bangladesh finsied at fourth and fifth respectively with five and three points each.
