St. Joseph’s College, Nugegoda beat St. Lawrence College, Wallawatte 30-8 in a one-sided game to win the Colombo South Zonal Girls’ Under-15 Basketball Championship played at the Amal International School court on Wednesday (15).
In a rain affected final St. Joseph's girls dominated all the way by scoring 16-4 in the first quarter and went on to lead the halftime by 28-8.
Amali Amanda Thenuwara of the winning team top scored with 18 points and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.
St. Joseph's girls reached the final after beating Presbyterian Girls' School while St. Laurence edged defeated Lyceum International School Nugegoda in the semi-finals.
In the third place playoff Presbyterian GS beat Lyceum Nugegoda 25-18 after leading 11-7 at halftime.
