Indian Dhruv Sitwal beat defended his Asian Billiards Championship title, beating fellow compatriot Bhaskar Balachandra by 6 frames to 2 in the grand final worked off at the Ramada Hotel in Colombo on Tuesday (8).
In an all-Indian final, where the game was set to be decided in 11 frames, Sitwal recorded Balachandra by 100/0, 100/5, 0/101, 101/14, 76/101, 101/12, 105/0 and 102/0.
Sitwal dominated the final in an otherwise one-sided game where Balachandra was able to snatch the third and fifth frame.
Many were under the impression that Balachandra would create an upset win after his unexpected wins over 15-time World Billiards champion Pankaj Advani in the quarter-final and later in the semi-final against 3-time Asian winner Peter Gilchrist of Singapore.
