The 89th Clifford Cup Boxing Championship will be held at the Royal MAS Arena in Colombo from October 18 to 22.
This meet is open to all male and female boxers who are over 18 years and below 40 years.
The age of men boxers are determined on the date of birth while The age of Women boxers are determined on the year of birth.
The men and women boxers who have already qualified to take part in major meets before or winners and runners-up at the ABA Novices, Intermediates, Stubbs Shield and winners of Junior Nationals are eligible to take part in this meet.
The General weigh-in preceded by the medical examination for the male and female boxers will be held on October 18 from 7.00am to 9.00am at the Royal MAS Arena at Royal College Colombo.
All female boxers should submit a non-pregnancy declaration at the general weigh-in.
The Medical examination and weigh-in on October 19 to 22 for all the male and female boxers will be held from between 8.00am to 9.00am at the same venue.
The draw will take place at 10.00am on the October 18.
The AIBA approved computer draw and seeding system will be used for the draw.
Introduced by the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) in 1927 the Clifford Cup was confined to team participation.
A team had to comprise of at least of four competitors.
In the inaugural year Clifford Cup Championship was won by Ceylon Garrison Artillery.
In addition to the National Championships and Layton Cup, the Clifford Cup is also considered as one of the major boxing meets in Sri Lanka.
As this is a team championship every club should enter minimum of four boxers for male weight categories separately and those boxers should fulfill the eligibility of this meet.
All winners, runners up and semifinalist will receive medals and certificates.
The best male boxer of and best woman boxer will receive special awards.
The Champion Club will be awarded the Clifford Cup Challenge Trophy depending on the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals won.
