Former Sri Lanka skipper and prolific batsman, Aravinda de Silva has been named the Chairman of the new Selection Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
The new Selection Committee under De Silva, will include former Sri Lanka caps Kumar Sangakkara, Romesh Kaluwitharana, and Ranjith Madurasinghe, all top class wicketkeeper/batsmen and Lalith Kaluperuma, an off-spinner.
This was confirmed by the SLC Media Unit in an official statement.
“Honorable Dayasiri Jayasekara, Minister of Sports has appointed a new National Cricket Selection Committee with immediate effect. The appointment of the National Selection Committee was carried out by the Honorable Minister citing recent failures encountered by the National Team in their Tours to New Zealand, India, Asia Cup in Bangladesh and the inconsistency of selection criteria,” the SLC statement said.
“The members of the newly appointed National Selection Committee are as follows; Mr. Aravinda De Silva (Chairman), Mr. Kumar Sangakkara (Member), Romesh Kaluwitharana (Member), Lalith Kaluperuma (Member) and Ranjith Madurasinghe (Member).
