Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed former national speedster Rumesh Ratnayake as its Head of Fast Bowling, a new appointed created by the present administrators.
Ratnayake, 53, who had a tenure earlier with SLC, however will not directly get involved with the Sri Lanka Coaching Staff according to information.
"Ratnayake will head the National Fast Bowling Programme, spearheading its talent identification, skills development and training processes in cohesion with the National High Performance plan. SLC have invested heavily over the past year in infrastructure and specialist resources for the national feeder programmes in order to identify groom and develop the next generation of talented young players from across the island," the SLC release stated.
Ratnayake is known for his 9-wicket haul against India which resulted in Sri Lanka’s inaugural Test Series victory against the immediate neighbour.
