Cricket: SLC Selectors keep players ‘In-touch and game-ready’

Sport

The newly appointed selectors of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), headed by the legendary Aravinda de Silva have announced a move which is claimed as well-received to keep the players selected to the pool for the WT20, ‘in-touch’ and ‘game-ready’ in the event they are required as replacements in the ICC WT20, according to a statement issued by SLC.

The pool of players from whom the final squad was picked, will be called on as replacements during the ICC WT20 currently underway in India.

Chairman of Selectors de Silva said: “since the boys here are playing 4 day cricket at the moment, we felt that a few T20 matches would help keep them in touch and ready to step up to the plate immediately when their services are required” he further reiterated that “the basic idea is to be prepared”

The two teams captained by Upul Tharanga and Ashan Priyanjan will include the well known players, and the practice matches will be worked out under lights on March 18 and 22 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
