Sri Lanka Test opener Kaushal Silva is out of danger after being struck by a ball on his head but will be kept under observation according to reports.
Silva was airlifted to Colombo from Kandy after he was hit by a ball on the back of the head during the two-day trial game played at Pellekele on Sunday (24).
The 29-year-old batman was fielding at short leg when he tried to evade a pull shot made by Dinesh Chandimal off the bowling of off-spinner Tharindu Kaushal.
Silva was wearing an up-to-date designed helmet, which had protection pads to in the rear but the ball is said to have made impact with the area which touched the helmet.
He was rushed to the Kandy General Hospital but was airlifted to Colombo, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Nawaloka Hospital.
The right-handed opener's rear head area was scanned and will be scanned again on Tuesday (26) according to Sri Lanka Cricket.
Silva will be most likely discharged depending on the report of the scan but he will asked to rest for at least a week until he fully recovers from the injury.
Silva is one of the openers alongside Dimuth Karunaratne and Tharanga Paranavithana eyed for the Test series against England which commences from May 3.
