Due to rain and bad light, the final match of the City League President's Trophy was abandoned with the scores reading 1-1 as Colombo FC and Renown SC were declared joint champions at the City League Football Complex on Saturday (30).
Colombo FC, the winners of FA Cup and Dialog Champions League 2015 came into the final with an unbeaten record.
In the 25th minute Renown's Osemudiamen Job Michael opened scoring and they led 1-0 in the first half though they missed two easy opportunities to score.
In the 75th minute on the second half Colombo FC equalised through a goal by M.Z. Johar.
With 18 minutes for the long whistle the game came to an end as the prevailing heavy down pour drove the players away.
Top brand of soccer was exhibited at this tournament by the top four teams of the City football League - Colombo FC, Renown SC, Saunders SC and Java Lane SC to give the spectators their monies worth. R. Puvanendhiran the President of the City Football League sponsored the tournament.
