Football: Evershine to take on Red Sun in Gampola K/O final

Close contenders Evershine SC will take on Red Sun SC in the final of the Gampola Football League President’s Cup Knockout Football Championship 2014 final, which will be played at the Zahira College ground in Gampola from 3.30pm on Sunday (15).   Evershine SC, the winners of Division I Championship, will play in the big final against seasoned campaigners Red Sun SC, who dominated the Gampola Football League for the past 17 seasons.   The Knockout final will be an interesting tussle between the two Division I finalists.   This will be a good opportunity for both sides – for Evershine to extend their dominance and winning streak and for Red Sun to retaliate and replace their lost pride.   Being the reigning Knockout champions and winners of the past two decades, Red Sun will be the hot favourites to retain the title, but an improved Evershine could come across their streak, as they once did.   The winner will receive Rs 25000 as cash award and a trophy while the runner-up will receive Rs 15000.   SSP Gamini Perera of the Gampola Police Division will grace award ceremony as chief guest while Rizmi Reyal, the managing director of the main sponsors of the tournament, Traveller Global will be the guest of honour.   Evershine SC will be formed by Hafiz, Hathafi, Hasan, Arshard, Askar, Suhail, Hithisam, Wazeem, Fairooz, Uvais, Faizal, Shifan, Ruzni, Rifaz, Malik, Ziaul Haq, Aslam, Kiyaz, Rishard and Razik.   Under the captaincy of Roshan, K. Navaratne, Chaminda, Lakmal, Rasi, Amitha, Indika, Pradeep, Aklat, Milinda, Manazeer, Gehan, Ashen, Ukwatte, Podiarachchi, Tharaka, Jayawickrama, Selva, Eranga and Bathiya will play for Red Sun SC.
