The Sri Lanka Inter-School Under-17 Hockey Championship will get underway at the Rajarata University ground in Mihintale from Monday (1).
The four-day tournament, featuring 50 teams -- 32 boy's and 18 girls', will end on Thursday (4).
This is the very first occasion that a hockey tournament is being held in the North Central Province and outside the main cities of Colombo, Matale and Kandy.
Last year when the tournament was held in Matale, Vijaya College Matale and Nalanda College Colombo emerged as joint champions while in the girls' segment the championship was won by Seetha Devi Girls' School Kandy.
The tournament is organised and conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association.
