Hockey: Maheswaran to lead Kandy District Hockey Association

Incumbent President R. Maheswaran was re-elected as the President of Kandy District Hockey Association at its Annual General Meeting held at the University Faculty Club in Peradeniya.
 
Maheswaran a product of St. Sylvester's College Kandy, played at all age groups within the College and represented Kandy schools, Sri Lanka Schools and University of Peradeniya. 

He also played for Kandy Hockey and Football club, Kandy District team and Central provincial team. 

He led the Kandy District team at the senior Hockey Nationals and then captained the Peradeniya University team for the Mini Olympics. 

He was the coach of his alma-mater for 21 years from 1987-2007 and Kandy District team from 1994-2004. 

He functioned as the Secretary of Kandy District Hockey Association from 1990-1994 and from 1998-2008. 

He was then elected to the post of President of K.H.A, which he held from 2009 to date. 

Presently he holds the Post of Vice President of Sri Lanka Hockey Federation. 

On several Occasions, Maheswaran officiated as the Manager of SL National men's team and women's team in their overseas tournaments held in India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Singapore. 

In 2002, he was appointed as the Manager and Coach of the SL University team at the inter University Hockey Tournament held in New Delhi in the same year. 

Representing Sri Lanka, he attended Asian Hockey Federation Meetings held in India and Malaysia on Several Occasions. 

He also attended the FIH annual Congress held in Germany. 

Maheswaran, who is an honours graduate of the Peradeniya University, presently Functions as an acting Librarian of the University of Peradeniya.
