Ind in SL: Warm-up game ends in draw

Opener Kaushal Silva and Upul Tharanga regained form with half tons on the final day for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Board President’s XI in the warm-up game against the visiting Indian team which concluded in a draw at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today (8).   Silva cracked an unbeaten 83 with six boundaries while Tharanga hit 52 inclusive of eight boundaries while the pair were featured in a 73-run stand for the third wicket.   When the game ended the SLC Board President’s XI, chasing a target of 411 runs, were 200 for the loss of six wickets.   The Indians in their second innings were bowled out for 180 runs, after being strongly placed at 112 for 3 wickets at stumps on the second day.   Put into bat, the Indians made 351 runs in their first innings with Ajinkya Rahane hitting 109 incousive of 11 fours and a six.   In reply SLC Board President’s XI were shot out for 121 runs.   The first Test between Sri Lanka and India will be played from August 12 to 16 at Galle.   Indians 351 all out (88.1) (Lokesh Rahul 43, Shikhar Dhawan 62, Chateshwar Pujara 42, Ajinkya Rahane 109, Harbhajan Singh 15, Ravichandran Ashwin 23, Kasun Rajitha 5/68, Jeffrey Vandersay 2/76, Nisala Tharaka 1/65, Lahiru Gamage 1/66) and 180 all out in 58.4 overs (Virat Kohli 18, Chateshwar Pujara 31, Lokesh Rahul 47, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar 37, Umesh Yadav 17n.o, Vishwa Fernando 2/17, Kasun Rajitha 2/38)   SLC Board President’s XI 121 all out in 31 overs (Milinda Siriwardana 32, Niroshan Dickwella 41, Danushka Gunathilaka 28, Ishant Sharma 5/23, Ravichandran Ashwin 2/8, Varun Aaron 2/42) and 200 for 6 wickets in 54 overs at close (Kaushal Silva 83 n.o, Lahiru Thirimanne 18, Upul Tharanga 52, Sachith Pathirana 25n.o, Ravichandran Ashwin 3/38)
