(ABC) and HNB 'B' reached the quarterfinals in the ongoing 7th Stafford Motor Co. sponsored 'Honda' Trophy – MCA 'G' Division 25-Over League Tournament 2017.
In the pre-quarterfinals worked off during last wee-end, Maliban scored a comfortable 100-runs win over First Choice.
DB AG too, had it easy against Pearson Lanka (Pearson), beating them by 43 runs, while Aitken Spence romped to a 63-runs win over Micro Holdings (Micro), with Avery snatching a 13-runs win over Courtaulds Clothing (Courtaulds).
Newcomer Pyramid scored a fine 24-runs win over Asiri Hospitals. DIMO 'B' was no match for SLT, who won by 8 wkts.
ABC nudged Interpharm by 4 wickets with 8 balls to spare, and HNB 'B' raced to a 7-wickets win over Coca Cola Beverage (Coke) with 8 overs to spare.
The spotlight fell on centurion, opening batsman, Roshan Kulasekera from Aitken Spence (101 in 70 balls, with 6 sixes and 8 fours vs Micro Holdings).
Kulasekeera was engaged in a 125-runs stand in 96 balls for the 3rd wicket with Sasidu Welaratne (70).
The 103-runs partnership for the 3rd wicket in 57 balls between Suresh Niroshan (88 in 44 balls with 4 sixes and 13 fours) and Malith Gunatillake (45) from Interpharm vs ABC, the fighting unbeaten 7th-wicket stand of 87 runs in 53 balls between Tharinda de Silva (85 not out in 50 balls with 7 sixes and 7 fours) and Dinesh Rajendra (48) from ABC vs Interpharm.
