Shehara Jayawardana secured her first win in the Class SL-H 1600cc event at the CEAT Sri Lanka Super Series final round held at the Pannala Race Track last weekend, after entering the class just over a year ago.
The SL-H 1600cc event is one of the fastest events in the Sri Lankan Motor Racing platform and Jayawardana missed out on taking the top spot on multiple occasions throughout the season, mainly due to bad luck and technical issues.
However, in the last race of the season, she had her goal set and nothing was going to stop her.
Jayawardana who took pole position on Saturday, went onto comfortably lead the race on Sunday from start to finish, and take the Best Driver's award for the day as well for her team, Mobil.
Susantha Gunawaradana, another driver of Team Mobil went onto grab victory in his Ford Laser in the Group - SL N Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc event.
It was a glorious day for the 'De Silva' family, as Jayawardana's father, Rohan de Silva, a veteran in the sport, made a one-off appearance and secured a podium finish as well.
De Silva once again proved that age is no barrier, when he saw himself among the top three soon after starting the race in fourth, where he qualified on Saturday.
De Silva eventually finished the race second in the Class SLA up to 1050cc event, to give Team Mobil their third podium finish of the day.
