The third and fourth places were won by Pinnawela Central and Sri Summangala Mawanella, respectively.

The Sepaktakraw Nationals were conducted for the 12th occasion by the Amateur Sepaktakraw Association at the Indoor Sports Complex of St. Joseph’s College Colombo over the last weekend saw the advent of new teams – both clubs and schools namely Presbyterian Girl’s School Dehiwela, Parakramabahu Vidyalaya Rambukkana, St. Mary’s College Nawalapitiya and the Sri Lanka Police women’s team.

The two main events of the Nationals were the ‘The Double Event’ and the ‘Regu Event’.

There were 16 trophies to be won by participating teams in both men and women’s categories.

There were trophies even for the fourth placed teams.

This year’s Nationals were fiercely and keenly contested amongst 14 club teams, six boy’s school teams and club teams spread over two days.

On day one Garudas SC and Uva Malay Association reached the finals.

Uva Malays won the Doubles Final with Garudas SC as the runners-up.

Senior Inspector General of Police M.R. Lateef was the Chief Guest with Deputy Inspector General of Police Hafeel Marso and former Police rugby skipper Anton Benedict as Guests of Honour.

The happiest individual at the Nationals would have been the President of the Amateur Sepaktakraw Association Nizam Hajireen, a triple International (rugby, football and Sepaktakraw) who gave leadership to sustain the game for over 30 years but also trained and produced most of the men and women players currently in the game today.
