Army’s M.M. Mubeen emerged champion of the Otter AC Open Snooker tournament when he recorded a five frame to three win over reigning national and junior national champion M. Fazil of 8BPP in the nine frame final played at the Otter AC billiards table on Saturday (29).
The closely contested final saw Mubeen using his experience came back after conceding the first frame to Fazil and thereafter it was a ding dong battle between the two cueists.
Mubeen made it one each by winning the second which followed with the duo sharing the third and fourth frames for the score line to be two each.

But Mubeen struck back to record easy wins in the seventh and eighth frames to put the issue beyond doubt and to seal the game in his favour.
Earlier in the day in the two semi-finals that were played saw Fazil getting the better of M.F.M. Fahim of Sea Endless by four frames to one and Mubeen brushing aside the challenge of M. Rikas of BRC by four frames to one in the seven frame encounter.
In the play off for the third place between Rikas and Fahim which was worked prior to the final saw Rikas prevailing by two frames to one in the three frame encounter.
