Ranga Nirosh of YMBA Colombo emerged champion of the David Silva Memorial Cup snooker tournament when he defeated Shanaka of Starlight Club in the final played at the held at the Starlight Club billiard table in Raddoluwa.
The tournament played in memory of David Silva saw the participation of 26 players representing the Trout Club of Nuwara Eliya, YMBA Colombo and Starlight Snooker Club Raddoluwa.
The tournament was jointly organized by Nimal de Silva a national snooker player of Grand Hotel Hotel, T.N. Saldin of Sealord Club Colombo and Tony Hafiz , president of Starlight Snooker Club who hosted the tournament.
The chief guest at the awards ceremony was K.H. Sirisoma the reigning national billiard champion who has won the national billiard title for a record of 25 times.
Results:
Quarter-finals: Ranga Nirosh (YMBA) beat Sachith Anurendra (Starlight). Daniel Arunadan (Starlight) beat Nimal Jayantha (Trout). Nuwan Janaka (Starlight) beat S. Chaminda (Trout). Shanaka Fernando (Starlight) beat T. Leslie (Trout).
Semi-finals: Ranga Nirosh (YMBA) beat Daniel Arunadan (Starlight). Shanaka Fernando (Starlight) beat Nuwan Janaka (Starlight).
Final: Ranga Nirosh (YMBA) beat Shanaka Fernando (Starlight).
