Super T20: Guardians defeat Warriors to meet Commandos in final

Galle Guardians beat Kurunegala Warriors by 6 wickets to reach the final of the SLC Super Twenty20 Championship, after a low-scoring semi-final game played at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday (3).

Put into bat first the Warriors were able to post 121 with skipper Mahela Udawatte top scoring 33 off 26 deliveries inclusive of two boundaries and a six while the Guardians reached the winning target with 16 deliveries remaining after losing four wickets. 

Next to Udawatte, Kusal Mendis (23) and Chathuranga de Silva (21n.o.) played useful knocks but others failed to provide the necessary push for the Warriors. 

Spinner Suraj Randiv picked three wickets while paceman Dushmantha Chameera claimed two scalps. 

Dilshan Munaweera, Ajantha Mendis and Jaffrey Vandersay grabbed a wicket each. 

Udara Jayasundera anchored the Guardians’ run-chase with a 37-ball knock of 35 inclusive of two fours and a six while skipper Dinesh Chandimal supported well with a 25-ball knock of 28 inclusive of a four and a six. 

Opener Lahiru Milantha made 23 off 19 ball inclusive of three boundaries while Munaweera faced eight deliveries to score 15 inclusive of two fours and a six. 

Chamara Kapugedara, Tharindu Kaushal and Chathuranga de Silva claimed a wicket each. 

Guardians will meet Colombo Commandos in the SLC Super Twenty20 Championship final on Friday (5) from 6.30pm at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
