Kurunegala Warriors recorded their first win in the SLC Super Twenty20 Championship, beating Hambantota Troopers by 4 wickets in the fifth match of the competition played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo today (29).
Put into bat first the Troopers couldn’t continue with their usual trend as they were restricted to 144-7 with Ashan Priyanjan top scoring, 64 off 41 deliveries with two fours and five sixes.
Warriors’ run-chase was led by a good knock of 47 off 43 deliveries by Asela Gunaratne, who went on to hit four boundaries and a six.
Kusal Mendis, coming down the order smashed an unbeaten 35 off just 16 ball inclusive of four sixes, to seal the victory with six deliveries to spare.
