Over 800 athletes are expected to take part at the Inter-International Schools Swimming Championship, will be held this weekend at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool in Colombo.
The participating schools this year are Asian International School, Alethea International School, Burhani International School, Colombo International School, Colombo and Kandy, Elizabeth Moir, The British School in Colombo, Gateway College Colombo, Gateway College Kandy, Lyceum Nugegoda, Lyceum Wattala, Lyceum Panadura, Lyceum Ratnapura, Leighton Park, Leeds International, Overseas School in Colombo, OKI International School, Regent International College Gampaha, Royal Institute, Stafford International School and Wycherley International School.
Organised by the Asian International School, the championship commenced with the participation of just ten schools and by this year the number of schools has increased to 21.
The hosts, Asian International, have won the championship 12 times, while defending champions Lyceum International School, have won it four times.
Colombo International School and Lyceum International School Nugegoda have won it three times each.
