Tennis: 3-member Wheelchair team for Japan and Korea

The Sri Lanka Wheel chair tennis, will field a strong three member team, to participate in four tournaments in Japan and Korea. 

The first tournament in Tokyo, is for the BNP Paribas world team cup from May 23 to 28. 

In Korea, the first tournament they will participate in, International Tennis Federation (ITF) 1 series or Korea Open from May 31 to June 4 in Seoul. 

The Daegu open will be from June 7th to 11 and finally the Busan open from June 13 to 16. 

The three players selected , Suresh Ranaweera, Upali Rajakaruna and Gamini M. Dissanayake, are the best presently in the circuit. 

They will play in singles and doubles events. 

By participating in these tournaments, they will receive the much needed exposure and to climb in their ranks. 

The coach of Sri Lanka wheel chair tennis team, Jagath Welikala stated; "The three players selected are the best in present form, and they have good rankings in ITF. They have altogether played about 50 international matches before. The most important tournament is the world team cup in Tokyo with 24 teams taking part. In our group there are 12 teams. We want to see our players compete well and finish in the first five”.
