Sri Lanka’s top seed tennis players Sharmal Dissanayake and Harshana Godamanne will be in action as the Davis Cup Group II Asia Oceania Zone Relegation tie between Sri Lanka and Lebanon begins today (17) at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) courts in Colombo. At 10.00am top seed Dissanayake will take on Lebanon’s second seed Jad Ballout followed by the game between Sri Lanka’s second seed Harshana Godamanne against Lebanese top seed Hady Habib in the singles games. Tomorrow (18) Dissanayake and Godamanne will team up in the only doubles against Giovani Samaha and Ballout which begins at 10.00am. On Sunday the reverse singles will be played from 10.00am where Dissanayake takes on Habib and Godamanne meets Ballout. The winner will stay in Zone Group-II in 2016 while the loser will be relegated to Asia-Oceania Zone Group III. Sri Lanka won 3-2 when they last took on Lebanon in Lebanon in April 2013 in a similar playoff.
