St. Anne’s College Kurunegala recorded a thrilling 20-18 win against Moratu Vidyalaya in the first semi-final of the Milo Chairman's Trophy Under-20 Schools Rugby Championship played at the Sugathadasa Stadium on Saturday (17).
The win will see them through to the final and play the advancing team from the second semi-final match between Thalduwa Bhuddist School and Carey College on Sunday (18).
At halftime Moratu Vidyalaya led the game by 18-5 but the grip slipped off from them as St. Anne's played rampantly in the second half to win the game.
The winners scored from four unconverted tries while Moratu Vidyalaya scored from three unconverted tries and a penalty.
